Green Hosting
- Whereever possible we use virtual machine technology to reduce the amount of physical servers.
- We have begun our, project to use chilled water from a chilled water plant located in downtown Kansas City. This is expected to reduce our electrical use for environmentals by close to 40%.
- We are purchasing carbon offests in July, 08 to offset our carbon use for the first six months of 2008. Clients with racks will be given a option of opting in to offset their carbon use.
- We are right in the middle of upgrading our core, to systems that use 75% less power, while give us 100%+ better network performance.
- When possible, we reuse existing ladder racks, server racks and wire management products from decommissioned datacenters. By recycling these products we reduce or contributions to carbon emmissions and landfills.
Reducing Out Footprint
The Right Thing to Do:
No matter which side of the debate your on, we believe by offseting our carbon emissions through the purchase of renewable energy credits, tree planting programs, and rainforest adoptions programs we are helping to make a better planet.
One of the surprising things we have found is that many of the choices we are making to reduce our footprint, actually increase our bottom line. For example the use of virtual server technologies has allowed us to consolidate four racks of aging server equipment, into one rack of newer and more powerful systems.
This created a electrical savings of close to $350 per month.
We look forward to talking with clients new and old about the business advantages of going green.
